My story with Entrepreneurship

During my days at Valencia College, my previous institution, I was the president of Phi Beta Lambda, which was a business organization that we had on campus. Our objective with the club was to organize and host different events like workshops, skillshops, gatherings, and other events in general where students and members of the club could learn in multiple fields thanks to experts that we tried to bring. My favorite event though, was an Entrepreneurship workshop that we hosted, with the entrepreneurship professor that supported the club, whose name is Dr. Jerrid Kalakay. That event was definitely eye-opening, as although most of us had the desire to start up a company in the future, we definitely did not have the knowledge and insights that Dr. Kalakay gave us. I am still very grateful with him for all of the things that he taught us, and the advice he gave me personally, which made be even more interested in the world of entrepreneurship. He always says that to be an entrepreneur, you don't have to break the bank or use all of your money at once. Sometimes it's better to go step-by-step, so that you make sure your growth is controlled.

Now that I am at UF, my goal for this class is to keep learning about the process of developing an idea, and determining if it is profitable or not, so that I do not end up just wasting my time and money when the time comes. That is the reason why I chose to take ENT 3003 instead of any other class, and why so far I feel that I have learned multiple useful tips and pieces of knowledge, that I hope to use to my advantage when I finally decide to venture on my own.

  1. Hi Richard,
This sounds like a great opportunity you had and it looks like it really helped you in the future. Being part of an organization that is capable of doing all these things must have been a great opportunity and experience for your career in the future. Great work!
